mother obesity - effects on fetus
Mother Obesity is it leads to anomalies baby?
Prevalence of maternal
obesity is increasing day by day.
and anomalies of fetus in utero is also increased, maternal weight
alone was not associated with an increase in congenital
anomalies.
Diabetes was significantly associated
with the increase in the rate of anomalies seen in our
population. Identification of maternal weight as a risk
factor in epidemiologic studies may be a surrogate for
pregestational diabetes.

Is ex-missworld Iswaryarai unable to become pregnant?
Surprise news came in news papers
ISWARYA RAI IS INFECTED WITH TB ABDOMEN.
Andhrajyothy telugu news paper published this news on 20th february.
source for this news is "daily mirror " a local news paper from mubai
According to above news paper , Iswarya rai is sufferring with TB Abdomen.
What is this TB Abdomen?
TB is a diseases ,due to infection of mycobacterium tuberculosis.Abdominal tuberculosis is one of the common extra pulmonary tubercular infections
What are the affects of TB ?
It causes severe pain abdomen,
. Its clinical presentation is
Twenty five cases of either sex were studied in department of gastroenterology
in BSMMU (earlier IPGMR), Dhaka from January 2001 to June 2003.
Diagnosis of 7 patients were made from the common clinical features
(fever,
weight loss,
altered bowel habit,
abdominal pain
Abdominal distension,
What are the special effects for woman infected with TB ?
Infertility
Abortions
Preterm births ,fetal death, Intra uterine fetal death
unexplained maternal morbidity and mortality
What are the methods to solve this health problem?
Is it curable?
How to treat TB?
Is TB patient can conceive pregnancy?
Positive Response by antitubercular therapy is observed in many cases
All patients received conventional 9 month anti-tubercular treatment with Rifampicin, Isoniazide and Pyrazinamide and were followed up clinically during and one year after completion of treatment. All patients were improved with minimum side effects of drug. Therefore, it is observed that a representative tissue biopsy (when approachable) and radiological findings are good method of diagnosis of abdominal tuberculosis. Strongly suggestive clinical features with positive non specific investigation findings are also an indication for anti tubercular treatment
Treatment of abdominal tuberculosis is in no way different from that of other conventional Anti tuberculous treatment.
So Dont worry my friends
we hope this news may be or may not be correct
If it is correct ....still it is curable disease
the daily mirror / andhrajyothy published the news about iswarya disease.it was condemned by iswarya's father in law amithabachan.
being as a fan ,Im also hoping that this news may be wrong.if it is true ,our Iswarya rai will definitely recover from TB, and will become pregnant soon.

Define" Labour" vs "delivery"
Define" Labour" vs "delivery"
There is a difference between these two terms "labour" and "delivery "
Labour: Term is used when strenuous process is involved in expulsion of fetus through vagina
Delivery : Term is used when the fetus is extracted from either abdominal route or vaginal route with or with out strenuous work by pregnant.
Delivery is term used in broad sense
Labour is used in certain condition.
labour term can be included in delivery but delivery term should not be included in labour in all conditions. In other words all labour process can be come under delivery but all deliveries can not be put under labour.
I hope I might be succeeded to explain minute difference between these two main terms
any comments ...welcome
Define "NORMAL DELIVERY/LABOUR"
Delivery /Labour which includes
single
live fetus
weight 2.5 kg to 4kg
delivered through vaginal route
with out any undue prolonged/short period than expected according to guidelines
with out any intervention/manipulation with drugs or instruments
with out any complications to mother or fetus

Painless labour
Is it possible?
yes
so many studies has been done on this topic.
meta analysis says painless labour is quite possible in centres where anaesthetist, gynecologist, patient ,nurse ,paediatrician work as a team round the clock .
nitrous oxide plus oxygen combination -patient controlled/doctor decided dose anaesthesia
ketamine
fortwin plus phenargan
tramadol
some GA drugs
epidural top ups with bupivacaine
many options are available.
risks complications must be outweighed with advantages then only it becomes popularise.
please put your experiences here in comments about painful or pain less labour/delivery

Diabetes+Obesity = congenital anomalies baby
Diabetes+Obesity = congenital anomalies baby
Recent studies are showing some interesting facts
Prevalence of maternal obesity is increasing day by day.
and anomalies of fetus in utero is also increased,
maternal weight alone was not associated with an increase in congenital anomalies.
Diabetes was significantly associated with the increase in the rate of anomalies seen in our population. Identification of maternal weight as a risk factor in epidemiologic studies may be a surrogate for pregestational diabetes.
(Obstet Gynecol 2010;115:290–6)
